Songbird

By John Henry
Location: Fifth and Yesler
Created in 2005
Acquired in 2009

“Songbird” by John Henry became a part of Martin Selig’s art collection in 2009.  This is a large-scale, contemporary metal sculpture true to the artists signature style. Many of Henry’s works are displayed as public art installations across the United States, including the Smithsonian Art Museum in Washington D.C. and the Lynden Sculpture Garden in Milwaukee, WI. In 2005, the City of Chicago changed the name of their North Cermak Road to “John Henry Way,” to commemorate his contributions to Chicago’s public art scene.
